How do I know if this product is suitable for my baby?

Aptamil is suitable for most babies from birth through 12 months of age. These products meet all FDA nutrition requirements for infant formula and provide the nutrition needed to support growth and development of healthy infants.

Please note, these products are not hypoallergenic and not intended for babies with cow’s milk allergies.

*For Aptamil First Milk - for infants born prematurely or with a low birthweight, with low iron levels at birth, or infants who are at risk for becoming iron deficient due to illness, additional iron may be necessary. Aptamil First Infant Milk powder infant formula provides 0.8 mg of iron/100 kcal (0.53 mg/100 ml). This level of iron is appropriate for normal-birth-weight, healthy, term infants and is consistent with European recommendations (EFSA, 2014; ESPGHAN CON 2014). Infants born prematurely or at a low-birth-weight have higher iron requirements and may require supplementation. Speak to your child’s pediatrician about the potential need for iron supplementation if your child was born prematurely, at a low birth weight or was born with low iron levels.

How do I prepare and store this product?

Labels in many other countries instruct consumers to boil water. Consistent with that approach, the label for Aptamil recommends heating water first to 160°F (70°C) and letting it cool to approximately 100° F (40° C).

Wash hands and surfaces, pour desired amount of warm water approximately 100° F (40° C) into a clean bottle
Using the scoop provided, level off the powder. Add the correct measure of powder to the water
Mixing instructions require 1 scoop (4.6g) per 1 fluid ounce (30mL) of water
Cap bottle and shake well until powder is dissolved. Feed immediately and discard used formula within 2 hours
Store open and unopened containers in a dry area at room temperature and use contents within 4 weeks of opening

Your baby’s health depends on carefully following the preparation, use and storage instructions on the label. Failure to follow these instructions could result in severe harm. Before preparing the infant formula, make sure to always wash your hands, and thoroughly wash bottle and feeding utensils in hot soapy water before each use. Ask your baby’s doctor about the need to boil or sterilize water for formula and the proper preparation of bottle and feeding utensils.

Warning: Do not use a microwave to prepare or warm formula, serious burns may occur. Do not freeze and avoid any extreme temperatures. Close the opened container tightly with the plastic lid. Do not reuse container. Do not use if inner or outer seal is damaged or missing.

Aptamil is a milk-based, routine infant formula that is similar to products like Enfamil Premium and NeuroPro, Similac Advance and Pro-Advance and Gerber Good Start Gentle. Aptamil meets US FDA nutrient requirements for infant formula. As the product is being imported from Europe, the iron level of this formula is lower and DHA level is higher than formulas typically found in the United States. Aptamil formula has 0.8 mg iron/100 kcal (0.53 mg/100 ml) in contrast to formulas in the U.S. that frequently provide levels over 1 mg/100 kcal. Aptamil has 0.5% of fatty acids as DHA in comparison to most U.S. formulas that have 0.32% or less of the fatty acids as DHA.

How do I prepare and store this product?

Yes. The fat content of Aptamil Gold+ Infant formula is provided by a combination of palm olein, coconut, canola and high oleic sunflower oils. Additionally, tuna oil and algal oil ingredients provide sources of DHA and ARA to support baby’s brain and eye development.

Does this contain any allergens?

How is this designed for c-section born babies?

This product is based on 50 years of early life nutrition research. It is designed to help support babies born by c-section:

Vaginally born babies receive gut-balancing, good bacteria that’s passed on to baby through the birth canal and during delivery, which helps develop their immune system.
For babies born by C-section, our product includes a unique blend of pre- and probiotics helps support the balance of good bacteria in the gut to be closer to that of healthy, vaginally-born, breastfed infants*

How do I prepare and store this product?

Wash your hands. Use only clean or sterilized containers to prepare the formula.
Boil drinking water and cool to ~100°F (40°C). Add the amount of water indicated in the table to the bottle.
Only dispense the formula with the provided scoop. Use the leveller on the inside of the box to level off the scoop. Add the exact amount of powder to the bottle.
Screw on the bottle top and, holding it upright, shake vigorously for 10 seconds or until the powder dissolves.
Check the temperature (should be ~98°F (37°C)). Storage conditions: close the packaging and store it in a cool and dry place (40-77°F (5-25°C)), but not in the refrigerator. Use the opened package within 4 weeks.
